How We Raise Them

No feedlots. No shortcuts. No exceptions.

Everything about how we farm comes down to one idea: animals raised well — outdoors, unhurried, and unstressed — are healthier, happier, and better on the plate. Here's exactly what that looks like day to day.

Pigs on rotating pasture
Pasture

Rotational grazing

Our pigs move across fresh pasture in rotation, which keeps the ground healthy, the parasite load low, and the pigs busy doing what Kunekunes do best: grazing. They live outside in every season, with shelter, shade, and wallows.

Feed

Custom whole-ingredient feed

We skip commercial pellets. Our supplemental feed is milled from local Oklahoma grain — corn, milo, molasses, and soybean meal — crimped and mixed for our herd, with a balanced mineral premix so nothing is missing and nothing is excess.

Handling

Stress-free, from birth on

Every pig here is handled from its first days, known by name, and moved with patience — never fear. Mama sows get extra protein while nursing, piglets stay with their litters until they're truly ready, and nobody gets rushed.

Health

Proactive, careful health care

We stay ahead of problems with routine parasite management, close daily observation, and honest culling decisions. Healthy genetics plus healthy management means we rarely need more than the basics.

Beyond the Pigs

A whole homestead, working together

The pigs share this farm with true free-range laying hens — no runs, no fences, just chickens being chickens — plus our farm dogs and a goose with strong opinions about visitors. It's a small, balanced ecosystem, and every animal has a job.

We believe you should know exactly how your food was raised. Ask us anything — or better yet, come see it.
